We thank God that the weather did not interfere with our volunteer training that was held this past Saturday (January 9, 2010) at Xenos Church in Westerville. 35 people were in attendance. Thank you to everyone who attended for sacrificing their Saturday, and a huge thank you to the volunteers who helped with lunch, snacks, and registration.

An announcement will be sent out via our biweekly newsletter when a future training will be held.

Steps to Develop First Faith Based Rehabilitation Program

Gracehaven is faced with the dilemma of having to “create the wheel” when it comes to creating a program for the rehabilitation and restoration of young girls who have been exposed to commercial sexual exploitation. The reason for this is that there are currently only 3 programs within the United States that specialize in this unique type of rehabilitation. Unfortunately, each of these programs is different regarding their approach, their use of services, the length of time the girls are able to stay within the program, and finally, none of these programs are faith based. For this reason, there is no model program that Gracehaven can immediately adopt. This has required us to develop our own curriculum and program built upon a faith based therapeutic model.

If you have any suggestions or resources that might be useful feel free to leave a comment. We are looking forward to interacting with you.
